MEYERTON – Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) Mayor Peter Teixeira is set to hold urgent talks with Eskom management to fix the ongoing electricity crisis gripping the region.
The mayor is demanding a clear action plan to end frequent power cuts and find long-term solutions to stop future disruptions. This move comes as MLM reports being flooded with complaints from frustrated locals.
“Residents have raised serious concerns about prolonged electricity disruptions that are often not attended to on time. The areas most affected include Vaal Marina, Daleside, Walkerville, Henley on Klip, De Deur, and Drumblade.”
MLM highlights that the power outages have had a severe impact on residents and businesses, who are left without electricity for hours and sometimes even days.
“We have received complaints from businesses that are losing revenue as a result. Residents working from home have also expressed concern that these outages affect their work and put them at risk of losing their jobs.”
The municipality assures all residents that these challenges are being taken seriously. Further communication will be shared with residents following this engagement, outlining the way forward and the measures agreed upon with Eskom.
