Art club sponsors demo

LOCAL artists are invited to a demonstration on painting with oils by well-known artist Bob McKenzie at Riverbend Art and Wine Gallery near Southbroom on Saturday May 21, at 9am.

Entry is free as this important art happening is sponsored by the Art by the Sea Club.

Many local art lovers were able to see some of Bob’s work when his exhibition,‘The Factor of Light’ was staged at Riverbend two years ago. Bob, whose work is displayed in many homes across South Africa and abroad, specialises in oils.

Although he often paints typically African scenes his subject choice is usually based on the quality of light. He always says he needs to smell the dust to be able to contribute that extra dimension that will hopefully be the soul of the work. His unique ability to capture the essence of a typical African image with the exceptional use of form and, most importantly, light are what make his images so appealing.
