Bluegrass expert visits South Coast
WHILE Riverbend Conference Centre is usually associated with classical music, the concert organisers have come up with something completely different.
World renowned bluegrass guitarist David Grier will perform there on Saturday, November 5, at 7pm. Wine-tasting and cash bar opens at 6pm.
David was named Guitar Player of the Year three times by the International Bluegrass Music Association. He has played on four Grammy Award-winning albums and is known for his unmatchable mastery of the guitar and the emotional exploration of the music as a whole. He maintains an unqualified standard of excellence in guitar playing, always with a knack of unorthodox surprise.
Born in Washington, DC in 1961, David was fully immersed in the bluegrass music world from the age of three when his family moved to Nashville. At the age of six, he began playing the guitar. Today, he is regarded as one of the premier acoustic guitarists in the world and was recognised by Acoustic Guitar Magazine in 2000 as one of the Artists of the Decade.
Tickets for his performance are R150 and will on sale at the Riverbend shop from Monday, October 3. For more information phone 039 3166204.
