Celebrate Bob Marley’s birthday

THE Rock Music Bistro will celebrate the late, great Bob Marley’s birthday this Saturday evening, February 6, with a big reggae bash.

In previous years, the well-known and well-established KwaZulu-Natal reggae band, ‘The Mediators’, has celebrated this major musical milestone at uShaka Marine World. This year members have accepted an invitation to head south and play at ‘The Rock’ birthday celebration, so come along and support them.

Born Robert Nesta Marley on February 6, 1945, the Jamaican singer songwriter, guitarist and committed Rastafarian Bob Marley achieved international fame as a reggae star. He and his band ‘The Wailers’ produced a string of classic reggae hits that are still very much loved today. In the early 1970s he moved to Britain where he pursued a sensationally successful solo career, which earned him worldwide acclaim.

Sadly, Bob Marley was cut down in his prime. He died of cancer when he was only 36 years old, but his wonderful musical legacy lives on. It is this legacy that will be celebrated at the reggae night birthday bash. Tickets are R50 and the proceeds go to the band.
