Folk duo to ‘Rock’ Umzumbe

Folk singers: Josie Field and Laurie Levine will entertain at 'The Rock Music Bistro' tomorrow (Friday) from 7pm.

AWARD-winning folk duo Josie Field and Laurie Levine will serenade guests at ‘The Rock Music Bistro’ in Umzumbe on Friday (June 03) from 7pm.

Laurie and Josie received the ‘Best Collaboration of the Year Award’ in 2013 and followed this up by nabbing the Standard Bank Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown the following year.

Now their recently released ‘Tigerlily’ album has received a South African Music Award (Sama) nomination for the ‘Best Adult Contemporary Album of the Year’ award. Critics say the singer-songwriters have set a standard for acoustic music in South Africa.

‘The Rock Music Bioscope’ hosted by David Marks, takes place this evening (Thursday) and the first Thursday evening of every month at 6pm. David will bring a few classic movies along and patrons will choose which one gets shown. David will sing for his supper at ‘The Rock’ on Saturday evening, June 4 and will host the Sunday afternoon session on June 5 from 1pm.

Booking is essential. Please bring your own alcohol.
