Green eggs, ham and meatballs for dinner
THE menu for a fund-raising dinner to put books into local children’s hands could be quite intriguing as it has been inspired by an assortment of much-loved children’s books.
And guests can add to the zany atmosphere by coming to the dinner dressed as their favourite literary character.
If this sounds like fun, diarise the event, which will be held to raise funds for Sithanda ukufunda (We Love to Read), a non-profit organisation that spreads the love of reading by running a mobile library service to 27 Lower South Coast and Eastern Cape rural schools. It takes place at Yayas Café in Southbroom on Saturday, October 29, at 6pm. Tickets are R200 per person.
On arrival guests will be served cocktails. They will then tuck into a dinner inspired by the likes of Dr Seuss’s ‘Green Eggs and Ham’, ‘Charlotte’s Web’ by EB White’, ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’ by Judi Barrett and the Russian folk story, ‘The Little Red Hen’.
