Join the drug awareness walk

EVERYONE is invited to highlight their concerns about substance abuse by taking part in a walk to promote awareness of this issue.

As the KwaZulu-Natal Health Department points out, substance abuse is a scourge that affects everyone directly or indirectly. Recently those involved in this district’s mental health programme have been concerned to see the increase in the number of substance abusers roaming the streets of our towns, intoxicated by the drug known as whoonga or other substances, including alcohol. They agree that this has led to an increase in housebreakings and other crimes, even murder.

If you wish to do something about the growing problem of substance abuse, meet at the Chris Hani (previously Dick King) parking area in Port Shepstone on October 23 at 9am. Those taking part in the event will walk from there to the Port Shepstone Civic Centre.
