Non-stop music at the Rock this weekend

A GREAT weekend of music at Umzumbe’s popular ‘The Rock Music Bistro’ will kick off with a return performance by Daryl Day on Friday, March 4 at 6pm. Daryl, who hails from the Bluff, has a huge repertoire of music and will have guests foot tapping along in no time.

‘The Dirty Rascals’ makes the Rock its venue on Saturday evening , March 5. This band of musos will have you singing and rocking along in no time. Music starts after the rugby match, which will be shown on a massive outdoor screen.

Another Rock debut this weekend will be by female vocalist Chloe Clark, who has a stunning voice. On Sunday David Marks will host a pull in plug in and play session from 1pm to 3pm, after which Chloe will step up to the stage.

A Durban-based singer, pianist and songwriter, who grew up in Mooi River and Weenen, Chloe started singing at a young age. She joined her first band when she was only 11 years and was instantly hooked on music and entertaining people.

When she decided she wanted to pursue a career as a musician she enrolled at the University of KwaZulu-Natal where she studied music full-time and graduated with a BA Music degree in 2013.Chloe is a dynamic presence in Durban’s entertainment industry, having performed in all of the theatres in and around Durban.She is no stranger to the stage and loves being part of the local show scene. You may have seen her singing backing vocals for Ronan Keating at the Star Light Pop Orchestra in 2015. In 2014 Chloe also became a familiar face on Idols SA where she made it to the Top 30.

Chloe’s love and passion for jazz is very noticeable in her songwriting. She worked alongside the very talented Durban jazz pianist Burton Naidoo on her latest single, ‘Hey Darling’. She has just finished doing her honours in vocal technique and jazz vocals at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and now looks forward to releasing her album next month.
