Run to feed a hungry child

THE 2016 Bread of Heaven fund-raising drive has already kicked off with members of the Keshivan Social Club spearheading the fund-raising ambassador campaign. The campaign is expected to raise funds for the school feeding programme.

The run takes place at Port Shepstone Senior Primary on October 15.

Bread of Heaven, established in 2001, is a non-profit, non-governmental community organisation and school feeding scheme administered through Gate Ministries to provide needy, indigent, poor and hungry pupils of local primary and high schools in the Port Shepstone area with daily sandwiches Monday to Friday.

The feeding scheme is operated by a team of volunteers who, on a daily basis, prepare the sandwiches for the children and deliver them to over 16 schools in the area. Currently over 750 schoolchildren benefit from the feeding scheme.

The fund-raising drive, in which ambassador runners raise a minimum of R500 each, will culminate in the annual Bread of Heaven 10km fun run/ walk. Anyone wanting to become an ambassador runner and assist Bread of Heaven in raising a minimum of R500 can contact Teddy Moodley at 083 8852727.
