Singing star comes to Margate
CHART-topping South African singer star TiMO ODV will be at Koko’s in Margate on Saturday night, November 28.
The genre-bending singer, who has two massive hits to his name, ‘Save Me’ and ‘Find My Way’, has a voice for which many would kill. Talking about his unusual name the star explained that TiMO was short for Timothy.
Music represents a change of career plan for TiMO who was studying graphic art when he suddenly decided to become a music producer. After two years at a sound engineering college he decided that he needed to understand music. Teaching himself mainly through Youtube, he learnt to play an array of instruments. Later, a voice coach helped him to refine the art of singing.
Having been signed to Universal Music, he appreciates having the backing of a massive label and the chance to work with a great team. His music has many different influences. Growing up in the East Rand he mostly listened to house music and hip hop. However, when he started learning instruments his appreciation for different genres of music grew immensely.
His hit ‘Save Me’ features Sarah Jackson and he is currently collaborating with Mathew Gold. The two styles vary so there is a very nice texture coming from the clash of sound. Listen out for it in the future.
