Song and dance in Umdoni
PIANIST Ian von Memerty of ‘Handful of Keys’ fame and his charming, equally talented wife, Viv, a former national ballroom and Latin dance champion, will present their latest offering, ‘Ian and Viv von Memerty’ at Umdoni Retirement Village Hall on Monday, November 16, at 6pm for 7pm.
Ian will tickle the ivories and there will be fabulous song and dance, plenty of laughter plus complimentary sherry in the foyer prior to the show. Together the von Memertys will explore the elegance of the ballroom, the passion of the tango, the glamour of Hollywood and will hold up a mirror to themselves and the world around them.
In the last quarter of a century there has been more change than in the entire history of the world before that and watching us all struggle with this change makes for some very funny theatre. Ian will also show off his pianistic prowess and Viv will impress her audience with her gorgeous dance costumes and champion-style dancing. With a programme that includes evergreens like ‘Summertime’, ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’, ‘New York, New York’, the ‘Click Song’, ‘Something Stupid’ and ‘My Favourite Things’, it is bound to be a foot-tapping evening.
Seating will be theatre style and seats will be numbered so you can book your seat when you buy your tickets, at R50 each. They will be on sale from Art Works in Scott Street, Scottburgh, or phone Heather Butler at 039 9759660 or 076 5418610.
