Sports and Specials meet in November
THE organisers of the regular Sports and Specials car runs have postponed the October one until early in November as they have put together a special outing.
Members of the car group will meet the visiting KwaZulu-Natal Vintage Car club at the Rust Bucket Oribi Museum on Saturday, November 5, at 10am.
The museum houses a private collection of old stationary engines, antique farming equipment, machinery, tools, some classic cars, a motorcycle and even a rust bucket or two. It began as a passion for old machines, shared by three friends. As their collections grew they forged a plan to build a museum to store and share their love for anything old and mechanical.
And so the wonderful treasure trove of all things mechanical, aptly name The Rust Bucket, was established. It is situated next to the Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve and shares facilities with the Paddock Polocrosse Club. Sports and Specials car owners have had many enjoyable outing to this museum and are looking forward sharing another visit there with the vintage car owners.
Everyone will then go on a macadamia nut farm tour and this will be followed by lunch at Leopard Rock Restaurant, another popular tourist attraction in the Oribi area.
