Spotlight on Gamalakhe

THE annual ‘Local Arts Festival against Crime’ is back! Taking place at the ZG Hall in Gamalakhe this Saturday, November 14 at 10am.

Artists have been selected from all over the South Coast, including KwaNzimakwe, Murchison, Gamalakhe, Port Shepstone and Margate. The goal is to show the youth that pursuing the arts and following their dreams is far more rewarding and a greater alternative to a life of crime.

Previous performers have gone on to appear at government functions and have been recognised around KZN. One such group is Acapella Sensation from Margate.

A highlight of the show will be a performance by local deejay of Ugu Youth Radio, Ndu Ngcobo. Recently nominated for the Ugu local awards in the Best Urban Male category, he will be performing his hit song ‘Jessica’.

Organisers, One Way Productions, have pulled out all the stops to ensure participants feel like stars and a get a taste of the professionalism and feel of the event and music industry. Mark Thornton-Smith of One Way Productions said that, without the valued support of the Hibiscus Coast Municipality and youth manager, Phumlani Mzobe, development initiatives like these would not be possible.
