Time for seniors to sell up a storm

OLDER South Coast residents will show off their skills – and hopefully make a little pocket money – by taking part in the next Senior Citizens’ garden centre and craft market.

It takes place at 39 Ocean View Drive in Sea Park this Saturday, April 2, from 9am to 3pm. If it rains on Saturday the market will be postponed until the next day.

All plants and craft items are home-grown or hand made and produced by people over the age of 60 years. The organisers also propagate plants from their own garden so potential buyers can examine the parent plant. This will give them a better idea of the sizes, shapes and colours of the plants they want to buy. There will be perennials, shrubs, pot plants, succulents, ferns and hanging baskets on sale.

Refreshments will be available. To get to the market from Port Shepstone, turn inland at the second road after the Umtentweni River Bridge. Drive up a little hill past the side of a butchery and at the T-junction turn right into Ocean View Drive.

The market is run as a community service and there is no charge for seniors who want to take part. They don’t even have to man a stall as the organisers are prepared to sell the items for them.
