Twinning association to meet
PORT Shepstone Twinning Association will hold its 20th annual general meeting at the Port Shepstone Methodist Church in Reynolds Street on October 27 at 3pm.
This year’s guest speaker will be former principal and civic leader Pauline Duncan, who will enlighten guests about the concept of twinning. She is one of the long-standing members and an advocate for social cohesion.
The association is a non-profit organisation that has maintained strong ties with Sweden since its started 22 years ago. It facilitates many projects such as poverty alleviation, heritage and educational programmes. Capacity building and social cohesion programmes have been the foundation of the association’s work since its inception in 1993.
The solidarity with Sweden has yielded many benefits for the South Coast, its tourism industry and local development. It has also been instrumental in uniting South Coast people as South Africans.
