Walk the Old River Road

THE next Walking in Nature ramble will offer ramblers a chance to try out the Old River Road and to explore the Lower Mzimkhulu River Valley.

The Umtentweni Conservancy members have worked incredibly hard to clear the old road, which is interesting both from a historical and an environmental perspective. Now that the road is ready for exploration, the conservancy invites all nature lovers to join the 7km walk down memory lane that it is hosting.

The walk starts at Port Shepstone Country Club on Sunday, November 29, at 8am. Entrance is R20 per person, which goes to conservancy funds. Boerewors rolls will be on sale after the walk.

From the country club, ramblers will proceed along the Old River Road to Royston Hall, then back via the train line through two tunnels. In the tunnels they will be able to see a sample of graffiti by world-famous graffiti artist Gasak. Bring a torch with you on the walk.
