What’s on at The Rock this weekend

LIKEABLE local lad Jade Green, who has a stunning voice, will open the weekend musical programme at ‘The Rock Music Bistro’ in Umzumbe this Friday at 7pm.

The ‘Gavin Ferguson Band’ will make its debut at this venue on Saturday, September 19, at 8pm. Durban-based Gavin is an original songwriter and cover artist.

He has a unique sound, soulful yet smooth, containing elements of jazz, rock, light blues and even Flamenco and he makes use of strumming as well as classical finger style picking. Southern Gospel sounds all mixed into current pop music and old school classics influence his play list.

With a voice described as smooth and sweet as honey, Gavin pours his melodies over the strings of a gleaming acoustic guitar. He has now teamed up with guitarist Steve Murray and drummer Raul Diaz to form the ‘Gavin Ferguson Band’.

Slap harmonic guitarist, singer and songwriter Phil Moffett returns to ‘The Rock’ on Sunday, September 20 at 1.30pm.
