Green market grows wings
A variety of colourful stalls sell all sorts of home produce and crafts.
RAMSGATE’S recently established Victoria’s Yard ‘green’ market is spreading its wings.
Originally, this delightful monthly market, which offers an array of organic food, fresh produce, hand-made items and recycled pre-loved goods, was situated in and around Burlesque Cafe. Now it is starting to spill out of its home base and spread itself out along the main road.

This has given it a wonderful community feel and has upped the happy vibes that are part and parcel of the successful venture. People who visit the market seem to spend as much time chatting to friends, often over coffee or breakfast at the cafe, as they do browsing among the colourful stalls.
The market has even hopped across the road to expand into the Ramsgate Whale Deck and its newly built Environmental Centre, where Ramsgate Conservancy members are doing some recycling of their own. They have started a monthly white elephant sale to complement the market.

The conservancy also sells light refreshments, so many people ended their enjoyable visit to the market by relaxing over tea of coffee on the lovely whale deck. With the weather and the view so perfect, it was an excellent way to celebrate the start of spring.
Victoria’s Market is held on the first Sunday of each month, from 9am to 1pm. It really is worth noting in your diary. And if you have any white elephants you don’t need, donate them to the conservancy and give them a new home.
