DESPITE the difficult financial times, Ziphakamise has managed to get back on track.
At the organisation’s annual general meeting, held recently, it was revealed that the organisation has managed to pull through.
Ziphakamise CEO, Bishop Lulamile Bodla, made it clear that it hadn’t been an easy year. He however pointed out that they had tried their level best to implement projects which were desperately needed by the rural communities.
“One of our biggest achievements this year was assisting three NGOs in applying for funding to National Lotteries. It was very encouring to see that one of them received funding of R269 000,” said Bishop Bodla.
Ziphakamise’s chairman Busi Machi, said she was happy with the organisation’s achievements. “I salute every member of Ziphakamise for their hard work. Projects are being run irrespective of difficulties caused by financial constraints. In the past it was easier to obtain funding. Today it has become very difficult,” said Ms Machi.
“I think the reason for the decrease in funding is economic recession and the increase of NGOs in our country, all of them depending solely on sponsors and donations from the same funders,” she explained.
Bishop Bodla thanked the board of directors for its support. “I would also like to thank service providers, municipalities and all donors big or small, individuals and businesses that are always ready to help us help the destitute communities,” he concluded.
