Caring for senior citizens

The welfare of the elderly is the organisation's primary concern.

THE Eyethu Senior Citizens’ luncheon club meeting was held at the activities room at the Margate library last Wednesday. The aim of this organisation is to promote and protect the rights of senior citizens in ward six of Margate.

Its primary objectives are to engage senior citizens in activities that will keep their bodies fit and minds sharp, paying regular visits to their homes, encouraging awareness campaigns to remind the community to respect their elders and to negotiate with government to lessen the burden of bills, medical costs and other day to day living expenses incurred by the elderly.
