Update: Child (9) still missing

A missing persons case has been opened.

LERATO Sokoena, the nine-year-old boy who went missing, presumed drowned off Lucien beach last Wednesday, has still not been found.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said a missing persons report has been opened at Margate police station.

Pieter Coetzee, NSRI Shelly Beach station commander, said NSRI Shelly Beach volunteer sea rescue duty crew responded last Wednesday after a request from Port Shepstone SAPS Search and Rescue to assist in a search for the child reportedly swept out to sea by rip currents.
