‘Reporting bad driving gets you nowhere’

Providing the public with contact numbers for complaints seems to be a mere formality.

DEAR Editor,-

I recently reported the following bad driving experience to the relevant department, but to date have not had the courtesy of a response.

At around 7.40am one morning during October last year, I was driving to work and, after having just gone past the NG Church in Ramsgate, (travelling from the Margate SAPS intersection to my office in Bond Street, Ramsgate), the driver of NPS 1 overtook me at high speed, crossing a double white barrier line directly into oncoming traffic.

I started shaking because the driver had not only put his or her own life at risk, but mine and the oncoming traffic, including taxis approaching from the opposite direction. The irony of the matter is that just around the blind corner was a massive truck, going very slowly, so the driver of NPS 1 actually got nowhere whilst putting other people’s lives in danger.
