‘Dumping is a shocking waste’
I am grateful to residents who contacted me regarding this shocking situation.
DEAR Editor,-
I would like to say that as the DA councillor for ward 18, I am committed to name and shame all culprits who dump in my ward, no matter who.
I am grateful to the residents who contacted me the weekend before last regarding this shocking situation in North Road, and after reporting the situation directly to our superintendent of safety and security, I contacted The Herald, as well as our MPL Dr Rishigen Viranna.
I see that as at February 2 the rubbish is still there, having been bagged by our staff at Hibiscus Coast Municipality, taking them away from the work they should have been doing, and despite being told that UGU District Health had cleared it away.
I am horrified that so many lever arch files have been thrown away despite being in excellent condition. Why could they not have been reused? This is a shocking waste of taxpayers’ money, as is the fine the department will have to pay.
It is also beyond belief that medical waste was amongst the debris.
