Rambling Rush: Valentine’s Day dilemma
It's a conundrum of epic proportions.
HALLEY’S Comet and this year’s Valentine’s Day have something in common.
Both are very rare.
The comet comes around every 75 years or so. It was last here in 1986 and if you are alive in 2061 you’ll see it again.
So what’s so rare about this year’s Valentine’s Day.
Well, for a change, men, can hardly wait for its arrival.
You see, February 14 signals the start of the Cricket World Cup AND the day the Sharks get their 2015 Super 15 rugby campaign under way.
New Zealand play Sri Lanka and Australia take on England. Both games have potential to be exciting.
The Sharks play the Cheetahs at King’s Park at 5pm.

Then, the Bulls play the Stormers at 7.10pm – a match most neutrals enjoy.
It seemingly can’t get any better.
So the plan for the day then goes something like this then:
7am: Get up and watch cricket, with a super Saturday breakfast.
11am: Off to golf.
5pm: Sharks vs Cheetahs.
7.10pm: Bulls vs Stormers.
7.50pm: Dinner.
8pm: Second half of Bulls vs Stormers game.
8.02pm: Phone police to save you from a proper beating from enraged spouse.
Mmm, yes, the significant other…
Perhaps a peek into your marriage agreement may be in order.
Were you married in In Community of Sports Watching or not?
Is it Ante Nuptial or Anti Sport?
Is there a clause which says Valentine’s Day can be celebrated a day earlier or later?
Are there grounds for discussion or negotiation or would it be advisable to consult a lawyer?

Fortunately the Proteas only play their first game (against Zimbabwe in Hamilton, New Zealand) on Sunday, so it’s safe to watch that.
That game starts at 3am so good luck getting the wife to make you coffee at that time!
Sportsmad men – of which there are many in this country – had better plan well. Very well.
Otherwise, like Halley’s Comet, their next chance to light up the universe may only be in 46 years time!
