Humaira flies Islamic School flag high
Islamic School prides itself in nurturing and developing pupils holistically by upholding the school’s vision statement.
HUMAIRA Khan brought honour to Port Shepstone Islamic School by being placed ‘runner-up winner’ in the PSA National Art Competition and her artwork will be used as part of the PSA official T-shirt design. Shireen Saloojee, a PSA executive member, presented Humaira, the only winner for the KZN province, with a digital camera at a special assembly.
Gr 8 pupils have collected an impressive 919 cans as part of a life orientation social outreach project and proceeds will be donated to institutions in need.
Last Sunday, the AstroTurf arena hosted a 5-a-side soccer tournament and 16 teams took part. The tournament was a nail-biting one, and the winning team ‘Wempro’ from Durban walked away with the R5 000 prize money. Runners-up ‘Gungho’, a team from Port Shepstone won R2 500. To add to the excitement, players and spectators kept themselves fuelled with the famous ‘Balooch’ braai and biryani on sale at the kiosk.
