These challenges include things like monotony (the same repetitive things at work), boredom (due to illness, injury or joblessness), economy (buried in debt and an unstable economy) or complicated relationships and family life.

Some tips include the following:
1. Exercise – this does not have to be a training level of a triathlete. Start at whatever level suits you, even a gentle stroll around your garden is a good start. You will generally do better if you have someone who can exercise with you and encourage you. The best exercise is the one that actually takes place!
2. Connect – true friends are worth their weight in gold. Every time you connect with those close to you, you strengthen the bonds and give yourself a little boost of happiness at the same time.
3. Live healthy – a good diet allows your body to work efficiently. Aim to have a daily balanced diet that includes whole-grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and good quality protein. Get enough sleep, limit your alcohol intake and increase your filtered water intake.
4. Learn – discover a passion. Find a hobby or pastime that you can enjoy and put your skills to practical use. Hobbies include things such as reading, photography, cooking, gardening etc.
5. Give – of your time to a charity or friend. Helping, sharing and being nice to others promotes a sense of self worth.
