Dead chickens ruffle feathers

The carcasses were left to rot.

A GROUP of people wanting to celebrate national Yoga Day were greeted by the gruesome sight of dead, headless chickens on Port Shepstone beach last Sunday.

Reshmee Mathura said: “We respect all religions, cultures and their rituals, but is it really necessary to leave rotting chickens lying around on a public beach?”

Hibiscus Coast Municipality spokesman Simon April said the by-laws prohibited people from taking animals to the beach… and they were certainly not allowed to kill them there.

He asked people to report such incidents to  Protection Services at 039 682 5555 or to their nearest police station.
