Kiss of life saves boy (4)

If it wasn't for the lifesavers the child might not have survived.

A CHILD (4) was given a second chance last Thursday by quick-thinking lifesavers.

Schoolchildren visiting from the Eastern Cape were swimming under the watchful eye of their teachers when near-tragedy struck.

Belinda Catchpole of Kwazulu Private Ambulance said that lifeguards pulled the lifeless body of the boy out of the children’s pool at Margate Beach.

Tower 13 lifeguards, Sean Barry, Josh Palmer, Ayanda Mbili and Rubin Zakuza, responded,. They started CPR and called Kwazulu Private Ambulance paramedics for assistance. On arrival paramedics took over and transported the child in a stable condition to hospital.

“If it was not for the quick and effective reaction of the lifeguards the little boy might not have survived,” said Mrs Catchpole.

“They caught him just in time.”

Speaking to the Herald, lifesaver Sean Barry said that it was a good feeling to save the child and a job well done.
