Children injured in collision
Paramedics found that one adult and six children, aged between nine and 12 years, had been injured.
SEVEN people, of whom six were children, were injured in a head-on collision between a taxi and light motor vehicle in Umgababa yesterday (Monday) morning.
ER24 paramedics found the taxi and vehicle stationary on the side of the road and the occupants of the taxi walking around.
“On assessment, paramedics found that one adult and six children, aged between nine and 12 years, had sustained only minor injuries in the collision. Fortunately no serious injuries were reported,” said ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring.
The injured were treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
In a separate accident, 11 people yesterday miraculously escaped with only minor injuries when a taxi crashed on the R102 near the Karridene Hotel in Illovo Beach.
“Reports from the scene indicate that a vehicle was turning into the hotel when a taxi tried to overtake. The taxi driver swerved to avoid colliding with the vehicle, veered off the road and hit a pole,” said Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Chris Botha.
Paramedics found all 11 passengers on the side of the road having sustained only minor injuries. “Paramedics from several services stabilised the injured at the scene before they transported the patients to various hospitals,” said Mr Botha.
