Mid-South Coast communities urged to remain calm and stay alert for march on June 30
Police have identified several duty points throughout the area, and residents who can assist by joining Saps members and security companies are encouraged to do so.
South Africans are bracing themselves for the nationwide protest against illegal foreigners and supposed national shutdown on June 30.
In the mid-South Coast, particularly Scottburgh and surrounding areas, ward councillor Dana Daniels stated that relevant stakeholders recently had a meeting to prepare for any possible action on the day.
It was mentioned that communities will be treating June 30 as a normal working day. The public is also advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour immediately.
Saps has identified several duty points throughout the area, and residents who are available to assist by joining Saps members and security companies at these points are encouraged to do so. It is emphasised that these duty point locations are not to be shared on social media or WhatsApp groups.
Locally, organisations such as Scottburgh Neighbourhood Association and Patrollers (SNAP), as well as Park Rynie Crime Watch will be assisting Saps with the coordination of these efforts.
If you are willing to assist, contact SNAP on 082 7601900 or 082 7740128 to find out more.
