Sea Park murder accused in court
The two men are accused of murdering Pradeep Mahabeer.
THE two men accused of murdering Pradeep Mahabeer (59) appeared in the Ramsgate High Court last week.
Jean Pierre Haggard (25) and Riaan Marais (27) , from Sea Park, were denied bail.
Mr Mahabeer, from Marburg, was reported missing on July 2 2015.
After a trial-within-a-trial, Haggard’s confession has been submitted. He is currently giving evidence and is being cross-examined by the state.
Mr Mahabeer was a self-employed vendor at the Uvongo Flea Market. His body was found near Umkomaas in August and police arrested the two men on charges of murder, kidnapping, theft and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
The case continues.
