Update: Four die in Harding storm [VIDEO]

Roofs were ripped off, trees were toppled and businesses were flooded.

PUNISHING winds, hail, heavy rain and lighting lashed Harding last night and resulted in four people losing their lives.

All four died after being struck by lightning.  According to Robert Mckenzie, spokesman for KZN EMS, 21 other people have been injured and are receiving treatment in hospital.

The storm saw roofs ripped off, trees toppled and many businesses in the CBD flooded. Four houses have been badly damaged and a car was damaged when it was crushed by an uprooted tree.

“The conditions were still very bad when paramedics and police tried to access the area affected by last night’s storm. There was still lots of rain and wind at the time, as well as lots of mud that the paramedics had to try get through to access these people who needed help,” Mr Mckenzie said.
