SCOTTBURGH police are encouraging you to take better care of the keys to your vehicle.
“Far too often we find that burglars break into houses while the occupants are asleep and use the victims’ vehicles to make their getaway with the stolen goods because the vehicle keys were so easily accessible,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.
“In most homes, vehicle keys are left hanging behind a door or lying on the dining room table or somewhere in the lounge in full view of anyone who enters the premises,” he added.
“And in some instances, although the house may be fitted with an alarm system, the residents fail to arm the system before going to bed.”
