Man jailed for 20 years for terrorising women

He assaulted two women and stole their cellphones.

MTHOBISI Tom Doyisa (23), who terrorised two women in the Mehlomnyama area, near St Faiths, was  sentenced to 20 years behind bars.

It was heard in the Port Shepstone Regional Court that Doyisa entered a house where a woman (58), was in bed.  Doyisa entered the room and hit her on the head before fleeing with her cellphone.

The same night, he went to a nearby house where he gained entry through a broken door and assaulted a 43-year-old woman. He took her cellphone and fled.

Shortly afterwards he was arrested and charged with two cases of house robbery.

He made several court appearances and was finally convicted on both charges. He was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment on each count.
