Police seize drugs, copper wire
More than 300 vehicles were stopped and searched.
A POLICE roadblock on the R61 in Port Edward last week proved fruitful.
The station commander of Port Edward SAPS, Lieutenant-Colonel Geoff Ngcobo, was in command of the roadblock, which was manned by officers from SAPS, Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI), conservation services, Department of Home Affairs and the municipal police.
The aim was to look for stolen vehicles and property, wanted suspects, drugs, unlicensed firearms and ammunition, illegal immigrants and unroadworthy vehicles.
More than 300 vehicles were stopped and searched, which resulted in the recovery of 20kg dagga, 10kgs of stripped copper wire, and an unlicensed 9mm pistol.
