Father rapes daughter

The teenager was repeatedly raped during 2014.

A NIGHTMARE  no child should ever experience – too terrified to do anything because the man who was supposed to care for her and protect her had repeatedly violated her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.

The 43-year-old father from Bhobhoyi (who cannot be named in order to protect the identity of his victim) appeared in the Port Shepstone Regional Court , charged with repeatedly raping his 13-year-old daughter in 2014.

He was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.

The case was investigated by Detective Sergeant Beautus Cele of the Port Shepstone Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit (FCS).

The court heard how the girl eventually summoned up enough courage and confided in her best friend and a close relative that from February 1 until  June 1 2014, her father had repeatedly raped her.

“The matter was reported to the Port Shepstone SAPS for investigation and the father was immediately arrested  and detained on a charge of rape,” said police spokesman, Captain Vincent Pandarum. He appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrates Court and the case was escalated to the Regional Court for trial and the subsequent conviction and sentencing.
