Shelly Beach jewellery store robbed
The public is urged to report those who deal in suspected stolen property to the police.
A JEWELLERY store situated in a local shopping centre was broken into last Friday night.
The thieves gained entry through the roof and tried unsuccessfully to cut open the safe.
According to police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, the robbers helped themselves to jewellery and cash from the store before taking off.
In a separate case, two men, aged 17 and 21, were arrested in a sting operation while trying to sell a laptop to a taxi driver at the Port Shepstone taxi rank last Friday. The operation conducted by officers from the Crime Intelligence Gathering Unit and the Crime Prevention Unit.
The laptop was linked to a previous case of housebreaking in the Port Shepstone area. The suspects will appear in court soon.
Lt-Col Wiid urged the public to report people suspected of dealing in stolen property to their nearest police station.
