OFFICERS from the Port Shepstone 10111 Call Centre Response Unit were early this morning called to assist a tracking company in tracing a hijacked truck.
The officers, together with colleagues from Harding, recovered the truck which had been abandoned.
“Shortly afterwards, three light delivery vehicles were also recovered and taken into police safekeeping for further investigation,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
Three men, aged 23, 30 and 32, were arrested.
Most of the truck’s cargo – beer – was found in the LDVs.
“After further investigation, it was established that while the driver of the truck was leaving the main Harding road to turn into Harding, he was stopped by three LDVs as well as a white BMW and silver Toyota Corolla,” said Lt-Col Wiid.
The driver of the truck and his conductor were held up at gunpoint before being driven to Kokstad where they were dropped off.
