TWO burglars were arrested last Tuesday before a case of burglary was even registered for investigation.
A Barracuda Bend, Pennington resident was awoken by the sound of his house alarm being tripped around 2.50am.
He investigated and found everything to be in order, so went back to bed. However, when he awoke again hours later, he realised that his home had been burgled.
Entry had been gained by forcing open a window and removing the burglar guards.

The matter was reported to the Scottburgh SAPS.
“Sergeant Douglas Mongi Gumede and Constable Khumbu Khuzwayo of the Scottburgh SAPS responded and obtained a statement from the man,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.
“Before returning to the police station, they received a tip-off and, with the assistance of Detective Warrant Officer Yugen Moodley and Constables Weidon Govender and Cliffy Pillay of the Scottburgh Cluster Detective Task Team and Warrant Officer Kenneth Glover and Constable Kishen Giani of the Umzinto K9 unit, went to Malangeni,” he explained.
Moments later, a 30-year-old suspect had been apprehended. A second suspect, aged 34, was also taken into custody shortly afterwards and charged with receiving stolen property.
The men appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, May 25.
“Sanele Mkhize (30) was charged with housebreaking with intent to steal and theft while Sbusiso Radebe (34) was charged with being found in possession of presumably stolen property,” said Capt Pandarum.

The case against Mkhize was remanded to Wednesday, June 7 for a bail application while that of Radebe was remanded until Monday, June 12 for further investigation.
“This is excellent work by our members. Instead of merely registering a case docket and waiting for the detectives to search for the suspects and arrest them at a later stage, they took the initiative to finalise the investigations immediately,” said Major General Sethenya Nxamagele, the Ugu Cluster commander.
“It is of critical importance to identify and arrest suspects before they flee the area and go into hiding. Chances of recovering stolen property are also greater if we act swiftly before the suspects have the opportunity of disposing of it,” she said.
