Sheppie High chess teams impress

Pupils have embraced the game with great enthusiasm and are reaping the rewards of their dedication.

PORT Shepstone High chess players took part in the Ugu Mayor’s Cup Chess Tournament recently. Zimkitha Magxala placed first in the U19 girls’ category and Claudene Leibach placed third.

Phelelani Zondi and Siphelele Magxala placed first and second respectively in the boys’ U19 category.

Chess was reintroduced at the school a year ago and pupils have embraced the game with great enthusiasm and are reaping the rewards of their dedication.

At the South Coast Debating League finals held at Southcity Christian School recently, the A and B junior teams competed in the final round. Congratulations to the B team for emerging league champions! Lethokuhle Khumalo was chosen as best speaker.
