FIVE Port Shepstone High School pupils, namely Sinjyn Bunge, Yamkela Mbuthuma, Sibongokuhle Ngaleka, Nomcebo Zama and Siphokuhle Zulu took part in the recent KZN provincial leg of the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA) schools’ debating competition.

They tackled the topic ‘Can the investment of public resources in a mega science project such as the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) contribute to the eradication of poverty and sustainable development in South Africa and the African continent’.
Ten KZN schools took part in this competition and Sheppie High took top honours, marking the school’s maiden entry into the SA National competition round.
The event will take place in Pretoria on October 6. The school congratulates team members on this excellent achievement and wishes them well for the imminent nationals.
