Nothile is Hlanganani’s 2017 dux

Guests included founder of the school Mondy Powell and former pupils Vuyo Gasa and Sithembile Ngcobo.

Hlanganani Preparatory had a very busy week preparing for the awards days last week. Last Wednesday’s foundation phase event was a great success, with well over a hundred guests in attendance. Parents were entertained with singing and poetry, but the awards presentation was definitely the highlight. Recipients were thrilled with their colourful books, writing implements and certificates.

Intermediate and senior phase awards were held at Norwegian Settlers’ Church last Friday evening. Unfortunately stormy weather kept a few pupils away, but almost a hundred parents braved the weather to attend. Guests included founder of the school Mondy Powell and former pupils Vuyo Gasa and Sithembile Ngcobo. Each grade recited poetry and the school choir rendered beautiful songs. Nothile Cele, who has an impressive academic record at the school, was awarded the 2017 dux. Pupils who have been at the school from grades 1 to 7 received certificates.

Final exams commenced on Monday this week with English and Zulu.
