Southcity Senior Preparatory Phase hosted the school’s annual prize-giving last week. It was a joyous celebration of pupil achievements and the evening included a devotion and prayer, speeches by exiting gr 7 pupils and a spectacular choir performance.

Retiring teacher Corinna Meyer handed out all the prizes and special mention must be made of all gr 7 achievers. Nadia Poser took the Dux award and shared the ‘Art Student’ of the year award with Bianca du Plessis, who received the Dux Proxime Accessit award.
Ella Drummond took the ‘Swimmer of the Year’ title and the Margate Pharmacy trophy for ‘Student of the Year’.
Jocelyn Saunders was awarded the ‘Netball Player of the Year’, ‘Monitor of the Year’ and the ‘Good Fellowship’ awards and, impressively, Qhama Nyathi walked off with awards for the ‘Boys’ Hockey Player of the Year’, ‘Rugby Player of the Year’, ‘Athlete of the Year’, ‘Soccer Player of the Year’ as well as ‘Sportsman of the Year’.
