Hibberdene Academy’s grades 1 and 2 classes were involved in a few spontaneous lessons about reptiles during February. First up, local resident Franco Breytenbach caught a Nile monitor lizard in his swimming pool and brought it to show pupils before relocating it to a more suitable environment.

The second incident was when a chameleon was picked up off one of the school footpaths during break. Pupils were interested to see the reptiles and eagerly listened to all information about them presented by Franco and gr 2 teacher Jane Kriel. It was inspiring to see pupils so excited about nature and its preservation.
Registration for 2019 is open. Please visit the school for a tour.
