Ronnie did so much good for the underprivileged and was always giving back to the community. While your scribe was chairman of the Red Cross Society, Ronnie handed over a substantial cheque which had been raised from sales of donated books. Admirably, he donated to a different charity each year. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Marcia graduates

Marcia McGarry has proved once again, it’s never too late to change your career direction. Marcia recently graduated with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Development Foundation Phase) after four years. Well done Marcia, that is an awesome achievement!

Congratulations to Tweni resident Marcia McGarry on obtaining her Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Development Foundation Phase) after four years of hard work.

WhatsApp works

Tweni WhatsApp groups are working well for passing on information and issuing warnings. Ryan Ringo had a trespasser in his yard at 4am and alerted security. The older man was casually strolling across the garden as if taking a short cut through the bushes to lower Foxen and Stapleton Road.

Neighbourhood watch

Olga du Plessis says she met a father and daughter from Russell Mellick Road at the hospital in the middle of the night last week. The man had been stabbed during a house robbery, but fortunately he was in a stable condition. If you are a resident in Tweni and would like to be on the WhatsApp groups, email tweniwatch@gmail.com.

Be aware

Drugs are rife in Tweni and it is sad to see that not only youngsters are involved. Please parents, stay vigilant, know who befriends your children and follow up on any ‘out of character’ behaviour.

Fair warning

Rick Thompson lent his bakkie to a co-worker, who needed to renew his driver’s licence. The bakkie was parked opposite the Port Shepstone Licensing Centre at 6am on Wednesday morning.

Two prison officers caught someone inside the cab on their way to work after noticing the window was broken and the radio removed.

The perpetrator was taken to the police station. Rick warns anyone getting their licence renewed not to leave anything of value in the car and to rather try getting a lift. Well done and thanks to the prison officers concerned.

See you there

Don’t forget to support the Muddyboots Market this Sunday (May 6) either as a trader or as a buyer. There is a lucky draw for the customer who spends R30 or more at any stall.
