Woods pupils explore the desert

Pupils are busy with an on-site project for geography and history.

Last Friday was a wonderful day for gr 8 pupils of The Woods School. They first visited the amazing Red Desert south of Port Edward and then enjoyed a lovely picnic on the beautiful Port Edward beach at low tide. The protected Red Desert is a wondrous quirk of nature and unique in many ways.

Pupils are busy with an on-site project for geography and history. They used cellphones to find latitudes and longitudes and then recorded themselves exploring whether the desert’s origin is myth or legend.

Hungry pupils arrived at the beach for a well-earned picnic and frolicking on the beach and then it was back to school.
