Devanand Sookdavu downs chalk after 40 years of teaching
He has taught at Marburg Primary for some 28 years.
Marburg Primary bids farewell to one of its most senior staff members, Devanand Sookdavu.
He was born on June 21, 1958. He attended Port Shepstone Primary School and then proceeded to Port Shepstone Secondary.

He completed his matric in 1975. Thereafter, he pursued a career in the teaching field at the University of Durban Westville. After graduation, he took up his first teaching appointment at Roodepoort High School from 1979 to 1980.
He was then transferred to Marburg Secondary School from 1981 to 1989. Mr Sookdavu was again transferred to Marburg Primary School where he was promoted as head of department in the intermediate-senior phase.
Mr Sookdavu served the teaching profession for approximately 40 years. He was very hardworking and meticulous in all aspects of his work.
It is with pride that the schooling community bids farewell to a member of staff who has served the school for about 28 years. The staff applauds him for serving the teaching profession with dedication and diligence.
He will be missed for crafting and moulding the lives of thousands of children who have passed through the portals of Marburg Primary School.
Rajen Naidoo of Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM), Ogwini Ward, conveyed his best wishes to Mr Sookdavu on his retirement. The Department of Education expressed its appreciation to Mr Sookdavu for his immense contribution to the teaching profession.
