The topic was 'The Challenges of the Deaf and Mute'.

Some good advice was offered by teacher Kubashnee Perumal of St Martin de Porres School at the Stonecroft Ministries’ monthly tea at Mbango Valley last Friday. The topic was ‘The Challenges of the Deaf and Mute’ and Ms Perumal reminded her guests not to ignore a deaf person trying to communicate.

Staff Sister Dlamini of St Martin de Porres was interpreting Ms Perumal’s whole talk. “Just pat them softly on the shoulder and face the person so they can read your lips. They would love to talk to you,” Ms Perumal pointed out. St Martin de Porres deputy principal Churchill Hlongwa said that there are many educational programmes for deaf and mute people to live a normal life.

After the talk, Nils Potgieter and Mari Webster entertained, accompanied by Sue Nielsen on the piano.

Then Kotie Swart related her life story. She explained there was much more to life than just being miserable all the time. “God can talk to you through dreams, you just have to talk to Him and make Him part of your life. He wants to direct your path,” explained Ms Swart.
