New home for elderly woman in Nositha
In the true spirit of ubuntu and keeping the spirit of Nelson Mandela month alive, entrepreneurs and staff of Esayidi TVET College's Singatha Incubator also lent a helping hand in making this project more successful by donating clothes, blankets and a food parcel worth R2 000 to the recipient.
Councillor Mdumiseni Cele of Ward 27 officially handed over a precious gift that no one could’ve topped for Busiswe Mzobe, an elderly member of the Nositha community.
Cllr Cele and various stakeholders worked hand in hand, ensuring that this 95-year-old woman who lived in an ill-conditioned house received a new, fully furnished home.

The Nositha community members who reside near her had noticed that the house in which she lived was badly damaged, unstable and without a bed for her to sleep on. Considering the winter season, and the fact that the old lady faced a bigger challenge of sleeping on the cold floor, called for urgent intervention of the councillor and sponsors.
The neighbours reported the matter to Philimon Mbili, a local pastor and a close associate of Cllr Cele, who then decided to involve local businessman, Thulani Magxala into the project of building this new house.

Cllr Cele, Mr Magxala and the ANC chairman of the Mabhiki Branch, Phumlani Mzobe, saw it suitable to hand over the house on Mandela Day last Wednesday. It was a day filled with tears of joy, as the recipient of the brand new house thanked all the people who were involved in this beautiful project.

Cllr Cele thanked and encouraged the community to speak out and report such matters as there would be some cases which he could not reach or make an impact faster, so the members of the community would have to act as eyes and ears. Mr Magxala’s contribution was also highly appreciated by the community and Cllr Cele.
Mr Mzobe assured those present that such programmes would continue to grow bigger as the entire year had been dedicated to celebrating the centenary of the birth of Nelson Mandela and Mamma Albertina Sisulu.
