Thanda Community Centre partner and marketing manager, Shannon Vaughan, said it had been a wonderful couple of days, bringing together communities from Durban and the South Coast, while making a positive impact on the lives of the needy. “Thanda Community Centre is a place for children and adults alike to feel safe and loved and, as such, we tried to keep it as colourful and welcoming as possible,” said Ms Vaughan.

She added that they are so grateful for the support of their wider KZN community to make this agri-hub feel like home to the farmers. “Together the volunteers painted the inside and outside of Thanda’s new agricultural hub, which will be used to store farmers’ vegetables so they keep fresh, as well as a space for the farmers to receive additional training.”

She said volunteers had also built a table or bench and planted over 20 indigenous trees, as well as creating colourful protection for the trees with painted rocks and tyres. “The volunteers also used recycled materials to create play structures like ovens, little homes and cupboards for children under the age of five years,” added Ms Vaughan.
